Monster Energy Yamaha about the German GP
It was not an easy GP for the men of Michael Rinaldi there on the Talkessel circuit. Steven Frossard, David Philippaerts and their Gariboldi colleague Anthony Boissiere explain their German GP.
Eighth: Steven Frossard, Monster Energy Yamaha (3-5)
“In the first moto I had a decent start and I quickly noticed that I could attack. I hung behind Nagl for a long time to pass him, then Cairoli came. At the end of the heat I did everything I could to finally pass Nagl and I succeeded in the last lap. I was quite happy with that moto. I ruined the GP for myself when I crashed into the starting gate at the start of the second moto. I was last and tried to catch up, but I didn't feel so good on the bike. On Saturday I had a crash and hit my head quite badly. So I started to feel tired in that second moto. Driving forward went well until I made a mistake and braked the bike to death. I had to push the bike down a slope to get it started again. In the end I came fifteenth. That's something to swallow because last week I won both heats and came close to the top of the championship. Now a mistake cost me, as in, a lot of points, just like in Glen Helen.”
Ninth: David Philippaerts, Monster Energy Yamaha (9-8)
“I really don't have luck on my side this year. Here too we had a problem with the brake in the first moto. At the start of the second heat, Steven, who was standing next to me, rammed the fence. As a result, my gate did not fall and I was therefore stuck. I pulled out all the stops in the pursuit and ended up eighth thanks to good lap times. In some respects this circuit was quite easy, so the times were quite close. The massive public turnout here was unprecedented and reminded me of the Motocross Of Nations!”
Seventeenth: Anthony Boissière, Monster Energy Yamaha (DNF-14)
“I didn't feel very good here. I was tired and couldn't really do much on the motorcycle. In the first moto I crashed and lost a lot of time trying to get the bike going again. In the second moto the result was really just that. Now I have to rest for a few days, recharge the batteries and hopefully do better in Latvia.”
