First GP victory for Tommy Searle!
Tommy Searle, two-time vice world champion in MX2, probably expected his return to the World Championship to be a little easier. Until now, the Pro Circuit-Kawasaki rider has always lost out to Ken Roczen and Jeffrey Herlings. Searle also thought it would be difficult, helped by Roczen and Herlings who made mistakes, Tommy took his first series and GP victory of the season. This means that the Englishman is more involved in the battle for the championship. Osborne and Paulin climbed onto the podium as 2 and 3.
Roczen dominates first series
Home pilot Gautier Paulin did everything he could to make things difficult for Ken Roczen. In the first series, however, the German prodigy was once again too strong for the entire MX2 field. Paulin proved to be 'best of the rest' for Osborne and Searle. Herlings crashed twice and only finished seventh. Joël Roelants finished eighth, Coldenhoff thirteenth.
Searle has the longest breath
For a moment, Ken Roczen seemed to be on his way to a big number, the Red Bull-KTM rider stormed up from the lead, but on the second jump of the circuit he tumbled off hard. So the battle was wide open with Osborne, Herlings and Anstie in the leading roles. Jeffrey recovered after the disappointing first moto and rode in the lead for a long time. When doubling up, 'The Bullet' hesitated for a moment, which was enough for Searle to wrest the lead from Herlings. Osborne still had just enough juice left to hold off Paulin and finished third. Nick Triest rode to his best result of the season; a deserved 12th place.
