Rapprochement between FIM and AMA regarding technical regulations
The FIM and the AMA will more closely align their technical regulations regarding motocross. In this way, both parties want to ensure that pilots from one championship will have an easier time at the start on the other side of the Atlantic. The FIM will align its technical regulations with those of the AMA in terms of fuel and minimum weight. For its part, the AMA will strive for the FIM sound standards. Behind the scenes, extensive negotiations have taken place in recent weeks between AMA and MX Sports on the one hand and Youthstream and the FIM on the other. The feud between MX Sports boss Davey Coombs and Youthstream President Giuseppe Luongo now seems to have been completely resolved. Eric Peronnard, the Frenchman who founded the US Open of Supercross in Las Vegas in the late 90s, acted as go-between. The intention is that in the future, sporting confrontations between riders from the GPs and the AMA Series will not be limited to the Motocross of Nations.
