BK Enduro: Goblet champion, Van Looveren strong
The final of the BK Enduro in Hautrage did not deliver what was expected. On the contrary, because the match was quite confusing. So things went wrong again with the chronometerage. Nevertheless, for once, RIS Timing managed to present the (unofficial) results quite early. Does this have anything to do with the expiring contract between the Walloon company and the BMB?
The biggest setback was probably the cancellation of the final cross. The race management is said to have made that decision under pressure from a number of riders from the Belgian ISDE team. The ISDE boys left Zaventem for Mexico on Sunday evening. The Gas Gas boys, led by team boss Dany Crosset, did not let the cancellation bother them and completed a few demonstration laps for the audience that had come especially for the cross.
If the title battle at the Inters E1 had already been decided, this was not the case today at the E2, E3 and in the Scratch championship. Jean-François Goblet dominated from the start and would eventually set the fastest time overall ahead of Cédric Cremer and Dany Crosset. This meant that the D'Ieteren Sport-Yamaha rider not only became Belgian champion at the Inters E2 but that he also won the Scratch classification. The day's victory at the Inters E3 went to Wim Vanderheyden. The Husaberg rider is the only Flemish in the Belgian team that will ride the ISDE in Mexico from November 1 to 6. However, the title in the toughest Inters class went to Gas Gas rider Kevin Gauniaux.
At the Beloften E2, Bob Van Looveren took his very first win in the Enduro. Van Looveren went very fast in the Henegouwen mud because the Wuustwezel native also turned out to be the fastest in the Scratch at the Beloften.
Even more Flemish success came at the Randonneurs, where OMS rider Olivier Vanmarcke took the title ahead of Grensland rider Jan Kestens. Remarkable because Vanmarcke already finished third in the Nationals 650 in the BK Supermoto this year.
