Nick Triest between two fires
This weekend, national championship races are scheduled in both the Netherlands (ONK Emmen) and Belgium (Orp-Le-Grand). That's a shame for riders who combine both championships. It even puts boys who are well placed in both championships in a dilemma. The perfect example of this is Nick sad.
In the Belgian MX2 championship, Triest has a lead of 32 points. on Jeffrey Dewulf. After Orp, the Belgian Championship final will take place in Pierreux on September 19. Triest is currently second in the ONK MX2, 60 points behind the leader. But that leader, Jeffrey Herlings, will no longer be in action this season. You would think that would create opportunities. especially if nothing prevents participation during the ONK final (Harfsen) on October 17. We asked the reigning Belgian MX3 champion himself.
Nick Triest: “To be honest, I would have preferred to ride in Emmen. I estimate the level of the ONK MX2 to be higher. I already have a Belgian title and the Dutch title has more appeal. Of course, that's on condition that you win! And even though I was inclined to choose Emmen, I have to take office in Orp. At the beginning of the season I signed a contract with the Belgian association to participate in the full Belgian Championship.” Numbers three and four in the ONK M2 are also Belgian. Moreover, Joël Roelants and Dennis Verbruggen, just like the entire Negaan-JM Racing team, will be working in Emmen.
