GP Latvia MX1: MX-Panda does it again!
Clement Desalle (Suzuki) won the ninth GP of the season in Kegums, Latvia. Desalle won in the first moto and finished second in the final moto behind Tony Cairoli, who finished fourth in the first moto. Cairoli (KTM) took second place on the podium and Steve Ramon (Suzuki) completed the podium after two third places.
In the first heat, Desalle caught Evgeny 'J-Bob' Bobryshev, who had opened a ten-second gap in the early stages. Clément waited until Bobryshev got tired and then attacked. A few laps before the end he took the lead and won the first series, just like last year. Steve Ramon rode quite easily to third place and world champion Cairoli needed too much time to pass Philippaerts. This placed him fourth. De Dycker finished tenth, Strijbos sixteenth.
Series 2: Cairoli!
In the second series, grandmaster Max Nagl once again gave a lesson from his successful work 'Holeshots without effort!'. However, the German quickly had to let Cairoli and Desalle go ahead. Cairoli was now unleashed and even rode away from Desalle despite the Belgian champion's insistence. Ramon took advantage of a great start to follow Desalle to finish third. Bobryshev soon saw his beautiful GP egg rewarded with a first podium place because the CAS-Honda rider also scored well in series two with a fourth place.
In the final standings of the GP, 21-year-old Desalle takes his second GP victory of the season and takes 4 points back from Cairoli. Steve Ramon came third and completes the Suzuki party. De Dycker never regained his good form from last week and only finished 12th in the final standings.
