Season start: VBM for dummies
We present the various federations in Belgium and the Netherlands in a clear and concise manner, for dummies. After the MCLB, the Free Belgian Motocross Federation, or VBM, is in favor.
The VBM was founded in 1966 as a Free Belgian Motorsport Association. A name that was later changed to Free Belgian Motocross Federation. In 2010, the VBM is mainly active in the province of Limburg, but competitions are also organized in Antwerp, Flemish Brabant and Liège. This year there are also two competitions in the Netherlands on the calendar. VBM's licensees therefore largely come from the same provinces. The fact that VBM organizes on a relatively large action area also means that a wide diversity of circuits is offered. This range varies from pure sand circuits in North Limburg to rolling circuits in Haspengouw to hard courses in Liège.
The VBM season is always preceded by the motorcycle consecration in the Flemish Brabant pilgrimage site of Scherpenheuvel. During a VBM Sunday, riders from 15 different classes get their money's worth. Of these, 13 classes are reserved for motorcycles, the other two are quad classes. The day before a VBM competition, the youth riders of the federation can go to the same circuit as the adult riders.

MXMag.be's favorite competitions:
1) Moresnet: A gem of a circuit located in an equally interesting village, near the Drielandenpunt. The competition takes place every year on Whit Monday. In addition to the usual VBM drivers, quite a few regional drivers also come to Moresnet. Every year there are also some guest drivers with impressive names at the Inters. Last year, Belgian Enduro E1 champion Cédric Cremer made his appearance in Moresnet. He rode in front of a lot more spectators than during the average BK Enduro.
2) Hamont: The “Kiekoet” is and remains a classic in North Limburg. A real “Old School” sand circuit with a forest section. A circuit of a species that has unfortunately become rare.
3) Attenhoven: The textbook example of a Haspengouw circuit. A harder surface and sloping surfaces. Not super technical but fun!
