Troy Lee Designs under the spell of Steve McQueen
This year marks exactly twenty years since the death of American film star Steve McQueen. However, McQueen was much more than just an actor. He hated the glamor of Hollywood and preferred to race cars or off-road motorcycles. McQueen did many of his stunts himself, regularly competed (including the Baja 1000, Elsinore GP, Mint 400) and even represented the US as a member of the American ISDE team! We don't see Leonardo Di Caprio doing it anytime soon...
In addition, Steve was also a style icon and a real one Ladies man. His best-known films include Bullit, The Great Escape, Le Mans, The Thomas Crown Affair and The Towering Inferno. In short, Steve McQueen was a true hero. Because Troy Lee Designs likes to be inspired by heroes, this year they are launching a collection dedicated to McQueen.
The first gem in this collection is the Steve McQueen helmet, which was also worn by TLD pilots Wil Hahn and Cole Steely during Anaheim1 last weekend. The helmet is being marketed in a limited collector's edition of 700 pieces. Not only are the graphics of this helmet new, it is also a completely new design in terms of shape. In any case, we think it is very successful.
It is not yet known when exactly the helmet will be available in the Benelux. This is expected to be June 2010. For more information about the Steve McQueen line and Troy Lee Designs, please contact Version.
