Nick Wey replaces Chad Reed
The Monster Energy Kawasaki team has signed Nick Wey to replace the injured Chad Reed. The 29-year-old Wey is one of the veterans of the AMA Supercross series. Wey's interim starts next weekend in San Francisco. Wey took his first steps in Supercross in 1998. In 1999, Wey, then on Kawasaki, became vice-champion in the then East Coast 125 Supercross championship. Wey's best finish in the main AMA Supercross class came in 2003 when he finished 4th.
The question remains whether Wey is even capable of making Chad Reed forget. Bearing in mind Wey's performance in the first three rounds of the current AMA Supercross championship, Monster Energy Kawasaki will have to significantly adjust expectations. Wey's best finish to date was a 12th place finish at Round 1 in Anaheim.
