No Eli Tomac in MX of Nations?!
During the post-match press conference Washougal late Monster Energy Kawasaki's Eli Tomac understands that he would probably not ride for the American team. Tomac has to enter the USGP because of his contract with Monster Energy WW Motocross Park Riding. He will also be at the start of the Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas on October 14.
“Right now it looks like it won't work. By the calendar,” Tomac said. “We have to do the USGP, then there are two free weekends before we have to go to England for the MXoN. This is followed by the Monster Cup. I've been riding since the first weekend of January. Competing week in and week out until the middle of October… That's why it's probably a no at the moment.”
Tomac is one of the favorites for selection in Team USA. Blake Baggett is also a logical candidate, but he wants to have his thumb operated on as soon as possible after the season. In MX2, Zach Osborne seems like a certainty. Team manager Roger Decoster will announce the American team at the Unadilla National on August 12.
