Hermans/Musset win the 1st GP Sidecar heat in Loket
Hermans/Musset have won the first heat of the Czech sidecar GP in Loket. Bax/Cermak came second and Van Werven/Van den Boogaart third.
Good-old Daniël Willemsen was back and took the holeshot ahead of Bax/Cermak. Bax was in a hurry and already in the first lap he pushed his sidecar nicely outside Willemsen's after one of the long descents towards a right-angle bend. Bax was now first and quickly drove away from the pursuing Willemsen. After three rounds the cards were shuffled slightly differently! Bax/Cermak were at number one with a big lead, but behind this it was Hermans/Musset, who started seventh, and had come to second place, with Van Werven/Van den Boogaart now in third place. Willemsen/Lebraton were fourth and defended themselves bravely against, among others, the French brothers Prunier and the Swiss Heinzer. Vanluchene/Bax, who started fourth, had already left the scene of battle with bad luck and Veldman/Janssens also had bad luck with a stalled engine. With three quarters of a lap behind, they were the last to continue the race. From the second half of the race onwards, Hermans clearly caught up with the leading Bax/Cermak. In the final laps of the race, Hermans managed to overtake Bax for first place. They crossed the finish line as winners with Bax/Cermak in second place. Team Van Werven finished third, far behind. There was a constant battle for fourth place with Willemsen, Prunier, Heinzer and Keuben who joined later. Willemsen/Lebraton put up a brave defense, but the young talents Prunier from France still finished fourth at the finish. Keuben/Badaire finished a good fifth. The rear brake broke during the sighting lap and coming fifth on a track that goes back and forth from high to low with just the front brake is all the better. Heinzer on six almost went over in the last round, but was still able to keep Willemsen/Lebraton on seven behind him. Brown/Chamberlain finished eighth, Leferink/Beleckas received wages but worked in ninth place and Varik/Kunnas completed the top ten.
