DMoM in R.E.S. Axel: Looked at differently
Due to cancellation due to weather conditions, RES Axel was given a second chance on May 5. Gino Maes and Olav Heijt joined forces to portray the organization and their volunteers who do the hard work behind the scenes, each in their own way.
When do you do something voluntarily? There are people who achieve things that others say are great, but if you look a little deeper, they often have more to do with talent. In such a case, the achievement becomes a little easier to achieve. It's great if you can do something with some effort without benefiting from it or becoming better off. So something for someone else is pleasure or happiness. People with a good heart, who realize that we are actually in the world to help each other, in whatever form that takes. It also became clear to me again in Axel. If you want to organize something like this Dutch Masters, you need people like that. Hard. It's not even that they make the job easier, it's that without them the job just doesn't get done. They are not for sale with anything. They do their thing unrecognizably without complaining. Rain or shine.
Coincidentally, I know from a tip how to recognize them, but I only get a good idea of the number of merciful ones when I enter the 'warming up hall', where they quickly grab a chair for a short break. Just a snack and a nice cup of coffee and then on we go. You can rest tonight. I am offered spaghetti, soup and baguette. Even though I'm here today quite voluntarily, I'm not taking anything. Purely on principle. A loyal member of the volunteer group takes the floor. 'It is simply unbelievable what these people are doing. You would think that canceling the previously planned date would cause heads to hang, but nothing could be further from the truth. There is full understanding for the action, which meant that all their hard work was in vain. Just at the last minute too. Of course there were still some opinions. If we didn't have this, or if we did this now, they accepted the hard blow and went back to work without any results. Today the faces are back in 'full glory' and as if nothing had happened, they pick up where they left off without any difficulty. The day runs smoothly and by applying the years of experience expertly every time, it gives you peace of mind. The feeling that it is good and will happen. The day went completely according to plan and visitors can look back on a great event. An achievement by a house of an association, which will certainly be continued within a year or two. Axel is worth it, RES deserves it…
