All about the international motorcross in Nismes
The first cross on the circuit St Joseph in Nismes was organised in 1964. Since then, the circuit has been continuously modernised to host increasingly prestigious competitions. For the Motocross of Nations (wworld championship for national teams) Major works were carried out in 1997, making us one of the most beautiful circuits in Belgium and the world.
The gigantic MX of Nations was also a highlight in organizational terms, which has not been forgotten in Nismes, its surroundings and in the MX world. After this gigantic event that Belgium won in front of a large audience and that was organized down to the last detail, which many people in the region still remember, the board of the organizing club was reformed.
Since 2018, Motocross is back in Nismes. This year, Nismes and its mythical circuit St Joseph are back on the world stage with a prestigious event. This will be the penultimate round of the Belgian championship. It will be a tough battle for the places of honor in the championship.
Two days packed with action – 500 riders – beginners from 6 years old to established stars – 36 races to welcome as many riders as possible on a spectacular, panoramic circuit.
BK oldtimercross
This year we will again be organising the BOTC, a championship for classic cars with an international flavour, as some fifteen British drivers have already registered. More than 100 motorcycles from before 1965 to 1995, divided over 10 races, are on the programme for Saturday.
As motocross becomes increasingly rare in Wallonia, we want to do everything we can to revive this discipline – it’s in our DNA. We want to offer experienced or novice riders, young or old, the chance to get their bike out of the garage and have a great time on a legendary circuit in an official organisation led by volunteers, with a wealth of experience (our long history is proof of this).
We want to give spectators the opportunity to experience beautiful moments full of memories on a circuit they love, and give young people the opportunity to discover this sport, which has marked the history of Belgium, on a beautiful circuit.
The hugely spectacular circuit
The circuit is located 3 km from the E420 and 15 km from the French border. It is a particularly spectacular and technically modern circuit that nevertheless retains its natural and panoramic character, which is unanimously appreciated by everyone.
There are no less than 16 jumps to overcome in each round, including two impressive tables that the best riders will try to take in one giant jump. The famous and unique stairs, consisting of three steep descents, give the most daring riders the chance to make the difference by completing them in just 2 jumps.
A long, dizzying descent followed by a steep climb (the famous “Mur de Nismes”) forms the most technical part, where the best still give it their all. There is something for everyone on our circuit. For beginners, who have the pleasure and pride of riding on the last Walloon circuit to have hosted the Motocross of Nations, and for experienced riders, who can express their talents without restraint.
The spectators will be spoiled!
The easily accessible rocky hill in the middle of the circuit forms a real natural grandstand that makes 80% of the circuit visible, making our circuit the most panoramic in the country.
Furthermore, the entire circuit (indoor and outdoor) is surrounded by access roads connected by a footbridge and a tunnel, allowing you to get everywhere easily to enjoy the spectacle up close and in complete safety. Finally, there will be something to eat and drink for everyone and some cheerful musicians from the Nismes brass band will liven up the atmosphere.
For all these reasons, the race in Nismes on September 7th and 8th is an appointment not to be missed! It will be a real motocross festival.
