Romain Febvre extends contract with Kawasaki
Kawasaki and Romain Febvre officially announced on Wednesday that they are extending their collaboration. The Frenchman will ride with the Greens for the next two seasons of the MXGP World Championship. Febvre joined the official Kawasaki team in 2020.
Since joining Kawasaki five years ago, Romain has been the most successful rider in the long history of the Kawasaki Racing team in the MXGP class, winning silver medals in 2021 and 2023. Last season was marked by great successes. The Frenchman, who turns thirty-three in December, won six GPs and finished on the podium in thirteen races!
He started 2024 with the same momentum, collecting six podium finishes in the first seven rounds, until a thumb injury at the French GP forced him to miss a number of rounds and give up the fight for the world title. Romain was back on the podium last weekend in Lommel, Belgium, in only his second race since his return, and once again showed how competitive he remains on the KX450-SR that he developed in collaboration with the KRT team and the Kawasaki technicians. Thanks to this fruitful collaboration, he has set his sights on the MXGP World Championships in 2025 and 2026.
Romain Febvre: "I'm happy to stay with Kawasaki for another two years. We know each other very well and I am sure we will fight for the title again, just like this year until the injury that forced me to miss a number of GPs. Injuries can sometimes affect your motivation, but I have shown in 2022 and this year that I can fight for wins and podiums, even when I come back. Despite the years, my motivation is still there because I started motocross later than most of my rivals. We have signed a new two-year agreement. That was important to me because I want to fully concentrate on racing next season. Everyone knows how comfortable I feel on the KX450-SR and that I have the same goals with the team. So we're back for another two years!"
