MON: Matteo Puffet rules in Boekel
Last Sunday, the third race in the MX2 inters/MX open inters class took place at “Circuit Bezuidenhout” in Boekel, Brabant. The big man was the Belgian Matteo Puffet who dominated in both heats. With a lead of 48 and 22 seconds, he finished first in both heats and took the day's victory. Based on the second heat, it was René Albers who finished second with a third and second place in the heats. He thus kept Stan van Zoggel behind him, who managed to achieve an equal points total. Bram van den Hoek took fourth place twice in the heats and was also fourth in the daily rankings. After his victory in Den Hout, Jamie Lucas now had to make do with fifth place in the daily rankings.
In the MX2 inters it was Kevin van Dam who ruled again. Van Dam won both motos and managed to lap all MX2 riders in the second moto. On the other podium places we saw two faces, Jippe Selen and Jop Adam, who were allowed to take the podium for the first time in this class.
First heat
It was like Puffet who got to the point and came through first at the first passage ahead of van den Hoek, Albers, Van Zoggel and Bob Ruijters. After two laps, Puffet already had a lead of seven seconds. Van den Hoek, Albers and Van Zoggel followed behind again, Ruijters could not keep up with the pace and was already fourteen seconds behind Van Zoggel. It was then reconfirmed that Van Zoggel has had a strong start to this season. He passed Albers and two laps later also left van den Hoek behind him. In the meantime, Ruijters had already had to leave his fifth place to Lucas. Puffet dominated the entire heat and eventually crossed the finish line first with a lead of 48 seconds. Van Zoggel seemed to pull away to finish second, but in the final phase he quickly lost his lead. Van den Hoek got into trouble and saw Albers pass him by. Albers placed another ultimate attack on Van Zoggel. With a difference of three-tenths of a second, Van Zoggel still managed to finish second ahead of Albers. Van den Hoek was able to finish fourth unthreatened and Lucas followed well behind in fifth.
Second heat
It was now Albers who had the leading position at the first passage ahead of Puffet, van den Hoek, Lucas and Krijn van Vroenhoven. Lucas and van Vroenhoven had to abandon their top five ranking on the second pass, Van Zoggel now came fourth ahead of Gijs Engelen. By the fourth pass, Puffet had taken over the lead and slowly but surely walked away to take the heat victory again. The lead over van den Hoek was already large and Albers no longer gave others the opportunity to threaten him. He also finished second. Halfway through the heat, Van Zoggel passed Van den Hoek and saw the checkered flag in third place. Van den Hoek dropped the pace and his fourth place was no longer in danger. Gijs Engelen dropped out halfway through the heat. As a result, it was Lucas who again finished the heat in fifth place.
