Gyan Doensen superior to the title
With two clear victories, Gyan Doensen has taken the title in the KNMV Dutch Masters of Motocross 125cc. The 16-year-old rider was a size too big for the competition and now also takes the 85cc title after the 2022cc (125). On the “De Herikerberg” circuit, Jarne Bervoets (4-2) takes second place in the daily rankings ahead of teammate Dani Heitink (2-6). Despite the rain, Motor Club Ons Genoegen has organized the circuit and peripheral matters neatly and we can look back on a successful series of competitions.

The reigning 85cc world champion Heitink takes the best start ahead of Colin Willemsen, who surprises Dex Kooiker and Gyan Doensen. Douwe Van mechgelen follows in fifth place ahead of Cole McCullough. In the first lap, the leader in the standings manages to take the lead, after which he takes distance. Heitink is chased by Fantic rider Van Mechgelen and McCullough, but the Irishman makes a mistake and disappears from the race. Van mechgelen cannot follow Heitink and the Yamaha rider distances himself. Jarne Bervoets has had a poor start and is working his way nicely forward. The Belgian has some work to do to pass Markuss Ozolins, but once he succeeds, the MJC rider quickly distances himself. This ensures that the gap with fellow countryman Van Mechgelen is eliminated and that brings the Fantic rider back to Heitink! All this happens far behind the back of leader Doensen who has everything under control. The battle for second place is exciting because Heitink feels the hot breath of the Belgians on his neck. However, the 14-year-old remains 'cool' and he takes second place ahead of Van Mechgelen and Bervoets. Ozolins completes the top five ahead of Kooiker (De Baets MX Team), Dean Gregoire (Voss KTM Racing Team) and the winner of the first race Kasimir Hindersson. Maxime Lucas (Team Tech32) is good for ninth place ahead of Bulgarian Ventsislav Toshev (AIT Racing).

Doensen starts the last round of the championship with an 18-point lead. Despite the fact that a number of riders accelerate too early, the leader does not allow himself to be forced into a mistake. The Limburger takes the best start ahead of Willemsen and Gregoire. Bervoets follows in fourth place ahead of Kyro Winkel, but he quickly drops back. Gregoire and Bervoets quickly pass Willemsen, after which the debutants duel each other for second place. The Belgian manages to take over second place after more than ten minutes of competition. Ozolinss had a bad start but he managed to move from twentieth place to fourth in just three laps. He then completely clears his gap to Gregoire and takes over third place. However, the 13-year-old rider from Geldrop does not give up and in the last round he takes back third place! Ozolins finished fourth ahead of Swede Freddie Bartlett. After hitting the starting gate, Heitink returns to sixth place ahead of Maxime Lucas. Kooiker has also reached the starting gate and he manages to finish eighth ahead of the British Drew Stock and Motorcentrum Eibergen rider Vince de Haas completes the top ten. Van Mechgelen is unlucky because he follows compatriot Bervoets in the initial phase, but the Fantic rider hurt his shoulder during a collision with a colleague.
Next time:
The championship is over, now most riders are focusing on the international competitions and perhaps an ADAC competition will follow later in the season.
