Andrea Adamo: “My disqualification was probably exaggerated…”
Andrea Adamo was on the podium in Spain two weeks ago and could have repeated that performance on Sunday in Riola Sardo. Fourth in the first heat, he finished third in the reprise before being disqualified by the race management. The reigning MX2 World Champion lost 20 precious points and was relegated to 12th place.
The reason for the KTM rider's disqualification? A forced passage through the pit lane at the end of the second heat, which was not carried out according to the rules. The FIM regulations prescribe that you are not allowed to cross the pit lane without stopping.
Andrea Adamo: "At the end of the race I made a mistake and unfortunately went off the track. There was no other way for me to get back on track than to go through the pit lane. Of course I didn't make the mandatory stop. I made a mistake, but to disqualify myself from the heat for that mistake is probably an exaggeration. Coming back from the second heat with zero points in my pocket is of course not how I wanted to end the day. But all in all it went well and I put in two solid runs. I'm looking forward to Arco next weekend!"
