Prado on pole, Herlings again the best lowlander
Jorge Prado won the second RAM Qualifying Race of the season in front of his own audience. The GasGas rider managed to book an obvious victory just south-west of Madrid. Tim Gajser came second ahead of Maxime Renaux. Jeffrey Herlings had problems during the sprint to the first corner, but the 29-year-old rider still came back to fourth place. Glenn Coldenhoff comes fifth while Calvin Vlaanderen takes two more points thanks to ninth place.
The tension is palpable before the starting gate falls for the RAM Qualifying Race under the Spanish sun. The crowd goes crazy when the world champion makes the best start. Kevin Horgmo and Josh Gilbert follow the GasGas rider while Herlings is included in the backfield after colliding with Gajser. Renaux follows in fourth place ahead of Coldenhoff and Gajser. The Norwegian Horgmo is well in the leading group, but he crashes hard and is then hit by a colleague. Renaux manages to take second place, but after more than ten minutes he sees the five-time world champion pass. Prado has already disappeared from the picture and he dominates this match. Gajser comes second ahead of Renaux, who comes under pressure from Herlings in the final phase. However, the Yamaha rider is not surprised by 'The Bullet' who crosses the finish line in fourth place ahead of Fantic rider Coldenhoff.
Tomorrow afternoon at 13:00 PM and 16:00 PM, both heats will be held at the Arroyomolinos circuit. The images can be viewed LIVE via MXGP-TV.com, the Discovery Plus streaming service and the Belgian Play Sports! The NOS only has the MXGP images and these are broadcast via the website.
