Jett Lawrence calls the shots in Daytona
Jett Lawrence took his third win in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship 450SX at Daytona International Speedway. The 20-year-old rider managed to win the final ahead of Eli Tomac and Chase Sexton. In the standings, Lawrence now has a ten-point lead over Cooper Webb, who crossed the finish line in fourth. The top four are only 16 points apart and the championship is not yet halfway done!
Before the start of the final, a rear wheel is changed at Lawrence. Just before the starting gate drops, the job is done! Sexton takes the best start ahead of Lawrence who then has to brake briefly to prevent contact. As a result, the Honda rider sees a number of riders pass by. At the front, leader Sexton is chased by Tomac, but the Yamaha rider is unable to take the lead. Lawrence joins the duo in the lead before passing them both in two corners. The Australian then immediately distances himself to take the victory. Late in the final, Tomac finally manages to pass Sexton. The multiple Daytona winner now has to be satisfied with second place ahead of Sexton, Cooper Webb and Ken Roczen who completes the top five. Benny Blose's tenth place with the Beta is very impressive!
Next week the championship travels to Birmingham for another fixture on the calendar.
