Rj Hampshire takes important victory
After his victory in Anaheim1, RJ Hampshire had a number of difficult matches. In Glendale he managed to recover and the Husqvarna rider took an important victory in the title battle. Hampshire won the fifth round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship 250SX for Levi Kitchen and Jo Shimoda! Jordon Smith finished fourth and lost the lead in the standings to Kitchen.
In the final, the leaders in the standings take the initiative. Kitchen wins the holeshot award ahead of Smith, Phil Nicoletti and Hampshire. Smith takes the lead quite quickly, but a small mistake causes him to lose it to Kitchen a corner later. Hampshire closes in when Smith takes the lead again and the Yamaha rider seems to gain some distance. Hampshire comes into second place and then Smith makes a mistake for the mechanics and falls again. Hampshire benefits and takes the lead. Smith chases Kitchen, but he brakes before the yellow flag and Smith has to brake at the last moment, causing him to jump too short and fall. Shimoda crosses the finish line in third place and can finally climb onto the podium. Smith is fourth ahead of Garrett Marchbanks.
Kitchen only has the redplate, followed by Smith by four points, and Hampshire is just five points behind the leader.
This championship will continue in Seattle on March 23, and in the coming weeks all eyes will be on the East Coast. The next match is on February 24 in Arlington.
