Aaron Plessinger wins and has the redplate!
Another new winner in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship 450SX. The third race of the season was won by Aaron Plessinger, the KTM rider won in San Diego ahead of Cooper Webb and Justin Barcia. Jett Lawrence finished fourth while Chase Sexton couldn't get further than eighth. Plessinger is the new leader in the standings, followed by Sexton by just one point.
In the final Justin Cooper takes the best start ahead of Ken Roczen and Plessinger followed by Webb. Sexton goes wrong on the first jump and Malcolm Stewart falls! There are also problems for the Lawrence brothers, who are both included in the backfield. Roczen manages to take the lead in the second corner while Barcia works his way from fifth to second place on the first full lap. Plessinger manages to get back at Barcia and he tries to connect with the Suzuki rider in the lead. However, he makes a mistake in the eighth round and falls. Plessinger grabs this opportunity with both hands and wins the final. Webb still has to catch up with Barica and even catches up with Plessinger, but mistakes by the Yamaha rider prevent a fight. Barcia completes the podium ahead of Jett Lawrence and Jason Anderson completes the top five.
Next week the championship returns to Anaheim for the first 'Triple Crown' of the season.
