Jett Lawrence makes history with the victory
The first round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship 450SX goes down in the books with a rookie as the winner! Jett Lawrence wins the opening race ahead of Jason Anderson and Chase Sexton on the KTM! What is striking is Dylan Ferrandis' fifth place, while Eli Tomac has to settle for ninth place ahead of Ken Roczen. Jorge Prado starts his mini tour in the USA nicely with a thirteenth place, while Hunter Lawrence fails to qualify for the final!
In the final Prado gets a good start but Lawrence manages to turn shorter through the first corner and takes the lead ahead of Jason Anderson. There is a crash in the backfield involving Roczen, Justin Cooper and Malcolm Stewart. Cooper Webb manages to take third place in the second corner ahead of Sexton who also quickly passes Prado. While Lawrence is riding his own race, Anderson and Webb are battling it out for second place. It is a great fight in which both ask the maximum of themselves. However, Webb makes a mistake, causing the Yamaha rider to fall. This places Anderson second ahead of Sexton and his teammate Aaron Plessinger. Ferrandis is doing very well with fifth place ahead of Webb and Justin Barica. Justin Cooper crosses the finish line in eighth ahead of teammate Tomac and Roczen manages to take a hard-fought tenth place.
The championship continues next week in San Francisco.
