New: Fantic XE 300 two-stroke Enduro with injection
Fantic Motor has announced the highly anticipated XE 300 fuel-injected two-stroke production model. That is quite spectacular news if you know that the engine was completely newly developed by Minarelli and meets the Euro 5 standard. The fuel-injected 300cc two-stroke engine with starter motor was recently presented at the EICMA in Milan. Last year, Minarelli already showed a block at the fair with fuel injection.
The Fantic Enduro teams had been riding with a carburetor version for two years, but in the meantime the fuel-injected engine was developed in collaboration with ISDE winner and Italian champion Davide Guarneri. The long-awaited XE300 2T Minarelli engine is Euro5 compliant, has fuel injection, an electric starter and will be launched at the end of 2023. A motorcycle that, according to Fantic, stands for “uncompromising performance thanks to the best performing 300cc engine on the market and a revolutionary cooling system”.
Fantic says their goal has always been to develop an “extremely high-performance engine, which guarantees high power, but a regular and full torque curve at all speeds” and with “a revolutionary cooling system”. A lot of development time went into the Dell'Orto electronic and dual injector system to create an engine that has the strong power you want and expect from a 300, but where drivability is an important goal.
Fantic says the engine produces “compliant power” but maintains Euro5 standards with the electronic power valve helping to produce a consistent torque curve at any speed and in any gear – although it remains the five-speed gearbox as on Yamaha's original equipment.
The electric starter was also designed in Italy by Minarelli and the new motorcycle also has a hydraulic clutch. Of course, the rest of the motorcycle is the same as all Fantic models, and therefore equipped with the Yamaha aluminum frame, Kayaba suspension, Nissin brakes and Arrow exhaust system.
The oil and fuel filler caps sit together on top of the tank for easy access and match the ergonomic design of the sleek Fantic plastics. Fantic says the rear axle has been redesigned compared to their other off-road two-stroke models, without changing the overall dimensions. Yes, you read that correctly: There is an oil filler cap for two-stroke oil. The machine has an internal mixed lubrication system, so you no longer have to think about it and just fill up with petrol at the gas station.
“In-depth study” was also reserved for the switches and buttons on the steering wheel, to improve function and usability with a minimal design. LEDs, multi-level traction control and a dual map switch are placed on the left, with only the classic emergency stop switch on the right.
