The details of the Triumph TF 250-X made public
Since the announcement that Triumph would be coming to motocross, the details had been guesswork, but tonight they were finally announced. Triumph Motorcycles has officially launched the new TF 250-X, featuring a class-leading power-to-weight ratio and the most complete specification package ever for the ultra-competitive 250cc motocross market.
The new four-stroke competition model, which was fully developed by Triumph in close collaboration with champions such as Ricky Carmichael and Iván Cervantes, is a completely new design. The performance racing drivetrain and unique aluminum chassis are ultra-compact and super-light, with all the best components on the market already assembled out of the crate. With its focused and aggressive style, the TF 250-X is sleek yet bold.
It will be instantly recognizable on the track, with its minimal and lightweight presence and signature Triumph Racing Yellow and Black graphics scheme. A network of Triumph dealers will offer sales, service, parts and a new specialty clothing range. The network will be supported by a mobile-optimized 24/7 online parts system, allowing owners to order for fast delivery direct from the track.
Performance-oriented drivetrain
Triumph has developed an all-new performance drivetrain. The new competition four-stroke single-cylinder is ultra-compact and super light, with a forged aluminum piston and titanium valves. The engine also features low-friction diamond-like carbon layers, lightweight magnesium covers and an Exedy Belleville clutch. Advanced engine management and tuning capabilities are complemented by the optional MX Tune Pro app, which allows riders to utilize real-time, user-selectable mapping, a real-time engine sensor dashboard and live diagnostics functionality, via a monitored and programmable engine management system.

These teams are behind Triumph's greatest modern racing achievements, including the Moto2 TM Championship where Triumph motorcycles have helped transform the class and set new Moto2 lap and speed records at circuits around the world.
From factory races in World Supersport to multiple Supersport victories at the Isle of Man TT and the Daytona 200, the teams are focused on success. The team is supported by some of the biggest names in motocross, including the greatest MX rider of all time, Ricky Carmichael. He has worked with Triumph's chassis and engine teams throughout the design, prototyping, testing and development process.
The details
The engine and transmission specifications include a 4-cylinder DOHC type with a displacement of 249,95 cc, a bore of 78 mm and a stroke of 52,3 mm. The compression ratio is 14,4 and the system is Dell'Orto EFI. The exhaust has a single muffler and the final drive is 13/48 with a wet, multiple Belleville spring clutch. The gearbox has 5 gears.
As for the chassis, the frame is aluminum with a backbone design and the swingarm is aluminum. The front wheel is 21″ x 1,6″, while the rear wheel is 19″ x 1,85″. The front tire is 80/100 – 21 and the rear tire is 100/90 – 19. The front suspension consists of a KYB 1,89″ (48mm) coil spring fork with compression/rebound adjustment and a travel of 310mm. The rear suspension is a KYB coil spring with adjustable compression (H and L speed), adjustable rebound and 305mm travel.
Braking duties are provided by Brembo components, with the front brakes featuring twin 24mm pistons and a 260mm disc. The rear brakes have a single 26mm piston and a 220mm disc. The instrument cluster and functions include an hour meter and multi-function switches.
Availability
The TF 250-X can now be ordered from Triumph's new motocross dealers. The motorcycles will be available from late spring 2024. The TF 250-X has a starting price of €11.395 in the Benelux.
