Matterley Basin: First series belongs to Simon Laengenfelder
German Simon Laengenfelder has just won the first series of MX2 in a sunny but windy Matterley Basin. He defeated the Yamaha tandem Thibault Benistant/Jago Geerts.
Laengenfelder decisively took the holeshot in the first corner ahead of Thibault Benistant and Jago Geerts. Liam Everts and Lucas Coenen were 8th respectivelyth in 12. de started. Kay de Wolf was like 7de started and was able to make up a place in the first lap to the detriment of Kevin Horgmo.
The lead that Laengenfelder had achieved after five laps was already 3 seconds. In the meantime, Liam Everts had moved up to P7. A lap later Sacha Coenen fell and had to give up a few places.
Nothing was certain about victory at that moment because Benistant, Geerts, Adamo and Van de Moosdijk were all within 7 seconds of the leader. Ultimately, Simon Laengenfelder gave up his lead during the last two laps, but was still able to win the first series. Benistant came second ahead of a fiercely pushing Jago Geerts. The best Dutchman was Roan van de Moosdijk with fifth place.
The second series of MX17 will follow later at 10:2 PM.
