No Mitch Evans in British GP
Mitch Evans (Kawasaki Racing Team) will miss the final GP of the season in Great Britain this weekend. Motocross World Championship runner-up Romain Febvre will only represent KRT at the British GP and two weeks later at the Motocross of Nations.
Mitch Evans is still suffering from wrist problems, which forced him to miss the MXGP of Italy last weekend. He will not travel to Matterley Basin as he continues to recover from the effects of this old injury.
A disappointing end to the season for the sympathetic Australian rider, who earlier this season put a lot of energy into developing the new Kawasaki together with teammate Febvre. After missing the first four races of the season due to a broken thumb, Mitch progressed throughout the season with several top-ten results since the German GP in June. However, in recent weeks he suffered more and more from the wrist injury and was forced to stop motorcycle training. This also forced him to decline pre-selection for the Australian team in the upcoming Motocross of Nations, an event where his teammate Romain Febvre will lead the French Team.
Mitch Evans: “It's a shame to miss the last race of the season and my last race with the team, but it's time to take the right steps to heal properly. I would like to thank Kawasaki and the team for their understanding and patience and for always believing in me this year. Unfortunately, we were not able to achieve the results we both deserved, but I thoroughly enjoyed working with such professionals. I would like to wish the team and Romain the best of luck for Matterley and the Motocross of Nations.”
Antti Pyrhönen (KRT team manager): “It is a great shame that Mitch will miss the last two GPs of the season, especially as he has been showing good speed lately on the KX450-SR. We tested a lot together and both the work pace and our goals were high, but as we know in our sport, sometimes things don't always go as planned. On behalf of KRT I wish Mitch a speedy recovery; keep the smile and ethics high as you have done throughout our time together and through this I would like to thank him once again for the development work he has done and the positive spirit he brings.
