Victories for Van den Essenberg and Buitenhuis in Groesbeek
Last Sunday the first race after the summer break was on the program of the MX2/MX Open Inters in Groesbeek. While the competition counted for the championship for the MX2 Inters, this was not the case for the MX Open Inters due to an IMBA competition in Switzerland. Twelve people still took part in the qualification, but due to a rain shower the number of participants was reduced to ten. A poorly filled field, a track that was quite wet and also a not very exciting race were the ingredients for this Sunday.
At the first pass it was Mitchell van den Essenberg who was in the lead ahead of Nick Kouwenberg and home rider René Albers. Behind them came Sasha Rutten and Demyan van Loon, followed by Kevin Buitenhuis. In the next round, Buitenhuis passed Van Loon and Sasha Rutten to finish fourth, Remco Doornwaard moved up to fifth place in the third round at the expense of Sasha Rutten. Three laps later it was Sasha Rutten who fought back to fifth place and the battle was over. The mutual differences only increased and there were no more position changes. Van den Essenberg also won at the MX Open Inters ahead of Kouwenberg and Albers. Behind this came the top three of the MX2 Inters with Buitenhuis, Sasha Rutten and Doornwaard.
The second heat was cancelled.
