MX2 Sweden: Simon Längenfelder the best in the first series
In the Glimminge Motorstadion of Uddevalla, German GasGas rider Simon Längenfelder has just won the first series of MX2. A lot of rain had fallen last night and that made the circuit tough.
The holeshot in this first series was for Simon Längenfelder who kept Liam Everts and Rick Elzinga behind him. Sacha Coenen was fourth after a few corners. Andrea Adamo had a mediocre start and finished 11thde away from the starting grid.
For most riders it was a struggle for life on the slippery track that now showed many deep ruts. Polesitter Kevin Horgmo was 10th after 5 minutes of the racede round. World Championship leader Adamo had a lot of work to do due to his poor start and was only up to 9th halfway through the race.de hit place.
Längenfelder seemed to cope well with the muddy course. He was able to pull away from Liam Everts by 7 seconds. Adamo, meanwhile, had to give up a spot to Camden McLellan. Sacha Coenen, in P4 at the time, got Horgmo on his skin, but the Norwegian had to deviate from the ideal line every time. Ultimately, Coenen crashed out and Horgmo was given fourth place.
In the last lap Sacha Coenen crashed again but did not lose any places. Simon Längenfelder kept his lead and won the series ahead of Everts, Elzinga, Horgmo and Coenen. The second series of MX16 will follow later at 10:2 PM.
