EMX250: Cas Valk outside category in Uddevalla
Clean and precise, that's how Cas Valk rode yesterday. Today too, that driving style proved to be most effective in difficult, muddy conditions. The 18-year-old Fantic pilot won his second race of the weekend with more than 9 seconds ahead of Andrea Bonocorsi. Kay Karssemakers (4-6) finished third in the final standings.
Valk immediately took the lead and would not relinquish the lead. The reigning EMX125 champion thus completed his perfect weekend: fastest in the free practice and time practice and winner of both heats. The Overijssel resident will be in top form for his “home GP” next weekend in Arnhem. In the standings, Valk jumps from 5th to 3rd place.
With a third place ahead of the Norwegian Haakon Osterhagen and the Frenchman Alexis Fueri, the Fantic riders clearly felt at home on the treacherous Glimminge Motor Stadium. Although Kay Karssemakers' Husqvarna (photo below) started to steam heavily, he brought his ordeal to a successful conclusion. Karssemakers lost a position to Valerio Lata in the final phase but finished sixth. After his fourth place yesterday, another podium place for the regular Husqvarna BT Racing pilot. His sixth podium of the season already.
However, with three rounds to go in the EMX250 championship, leader Andrea Bonacorsi (Huttenmetaal Yamaha) remains firmly in the saddle. The Italian talent is 46 points ahead of Karssemakers. For Ivano Van Erp, Sweden was a race to quickly forget. On Saturday he had to settle for P6 and today he disappeared from the race early. Hopefully revenge next weekend in our own country!
