Dani Koot starts the second half of the season with a win
Last weekend the MX2 youth class resumed the battle for points. In Groesbeek, Gelderland, MBC de Zeven Heuvelen was the first host of the second part of the season. It was Dani Koot who won the battle against Alex van Weerdenburg in both heats and showed that he has not given up hope in the battle for the championship. Belgian Troy Dendooven rode two stable heats and took third place twice in the daily rankings, Dani Puts managed to finish fourth and Stein Kanters completed the top five.
First heat
It was Van Weerdenburg who was the fastest ahead of Dendooven, Koot, Armani Saraç and Kanters. In the first lap it was Koot who passed Dendooven and settled behind Van Weerdenburg. Behind Dendooven it soon became clear that Saraç is not yet the same as he used to be and he quickly relapsed. It was Kanters and Puts who came fourth and fifth at the first passage. Kanters and Puts slowly had to leave a gap with the front three. It took until three laps before the checkered flag fell before position changes took place among the front five. Koot previously saw an attack on the lead fail due to a small steering error, but now succeeded. He took over the lead and despite an ultimate attack in the last lap, he managed to keep Van Weerdenburg behind him. Dendooven had to let the front two go in the final phase. He had built up a ten second lead over Kanters and saw the checkered flag in third place. Where Koot took the lead, in the same lap it was Puts who passed Kanters and finished fourth.
Second heat
It was again Van Weerdenburg who was away the fastest. Behind this was Walter van Gorkum and he was followed by Puts, Koot and Dendooven. Koot quickly made his way to the front and came third after two laps, passing Van Gorkum on the next lap and settling directly behind Van Weerdenburg. Puts had also seen Dendooven pass him by and was now in fifth place. Van Gorkum could not keep up with the pace at the front and saw Puts, Denddoven and Kanters pass and quickly had to leave a large gap with the front five. It was Van Weerdenburg and Koot who again battled for the heat victory. Five laps before the finish, Koot managed to pass Van Weerdenburg again and took the full 120 points with the heat victory. Van Weerdenburg came second again. Dendooven, Puts and Kanters lost touch with the leaders halfway through the heat. Dendooven managed to hold off Puts and finished third with Puts close behind
himself. Kanters lost the connection in the final phase of the heat. However, he had a wide lead over Van Gorkum to finish fifth again.
