Belgian success in MX2 qualifications
Lucas Coenen has just won the MX2 qualifying series, on the tough sand circuit in Arnhem. The Belgian started third in the qualifying series for the Dutch Grand Prix, and then managed to move past his brother Sascha Coenen and Monster Energy Kemea Yamaha pilot Rick Elzinga into the lead. This leading position was no longer in danger and Lucas Coenen won his second qualifying series of the season!
Behind the back of the Husqvarna pilot, the large crowd saw German Simon Laengenfelder work his way into second place ahead of Liam Everts. Rick Elzinga fell back to fourth place after his holeshot. Jago Geerts, who competed for points again barely 21 days after breaking his collarbone and 19 days after his operation, finished fifth. ahead of Spaniard Orial Oliver and Italian MX2 World Championship leader Andrea Adamo. The top ten was completed with Roan van de Moosdijk on eight, Emil Weckman on nine and Kevin Horgmo on ten. Sascha Coenen, who also had a good start, started hard and was unable to finish the race. He completed the course under his own power.
We found the other lowlanders in seventeenth place with Scott Smulders, and Raf Meuwissen finished in twenty-fourth place with Boris Blanken and Jaap Janssen behind him. Romano Aspers finished twenty-eighth.
