MX2 Lombok: Sublime Jago Geerts wins both series
With a double series victory, it seems that Jago Geerts is back. In Lombok he controlled the entire weekend with a pole and two victories in the series.
The holeshot was also for Jago Geerts in this second series. Like a devil out of a box, Simon Laengenfelder (Red Bull GasGas) took the lead, but at the end of the first lap Geerts pulled off a big sprint and took the lead back from the German. Kay de Wolf crashed on the second lap and had to restart in twelfth place.
Adamo also suffered a setback and had to give up some places to his competitors. Geerts was again in the lead with Van de Moosdijk, Laengenfelder and Everts on his wheel. Then Lucas Coenen followed in P5. Adamo messed up again on lap four by ending up off the track while Sacha Coenen was spotted on 14de place.
In round six, Roan van de Moosdijk crashed into the Indonesian surface and Liam Everts reached third place without much difficulty. He then tried to get into Laengenfelder's wheel. Then a fight broke out between Lucas Coenen and Adrea Adamo with P5 as the bet. Coenen defended his position tooth and nail but could not avoid the Sicilian coming alongside.
In the meantime, Jago Geerts had built up a nice lead of about five seconds over Laengenfelder. Adamo, in turn, was completely in battle mode and also took the measure of Roan van de Moosdijk. A few corners later, Lucas Coenen did the same and moved up to P5. The battle for second place was now completely open because Laengenfelder, Everts, Adamo and Coenen were candidates. Everts made a small mistake and Adamo took advantage of it to move up one place.
With a few laps to go, the positions were fixed. Jago Geerts won the second series with a nice lead and therefore also the Grand Prix. On the podium he was flanked by Andrea Adamo and Simon Laengenfelder. Geerts is now fourth in the standings, 47 points behind leader Adamo. The next competition is scheduled for a fortnight's time with the race in Loket, Czech Republic.
