Minister Ben Weyts visits Lommel
High profile visitors during GP Limburg yesterday. Among the dignitaries on site was Ben Weyts, Deputy Prime Minister of the Flemish Government and responsible for sports, among other things.
The full title of the N-VA politician is Flemish Minister of Education, Sports, Animal Welfare and Vlaamse Rand. In Lommel the focus was of course on sports! Weyts took the opportunity to meet many different people. In addition to Infront Moto Racing director Daniele Rizzi and BMB chairman Jos Driessen, the Minster also spoke with Hans Corvers and Jago Geerts. Moreover, the minister had not come alone. Bram Van Bossuyt from Sport Vlaanderen was also present.
After the visit to the Yamaha Monster Energy MX2 team, the working visit continued to KTM. Motocross Sports manager Joël Smets provided text and explanation and presented a shirt from Sacha Coenen (photo below).
Thanks to the victory of Jago Geerts and the podium place of Lucas Coenen in the MX2, the timing was perfect for this important visit because the minister also presented the winner's trophy to Jago. The presence of the Minister of Sport once again underlined the importance and appreciation of motocross for the Flemish government.
