Gaasbeek wins, Strik almost on the home podium
Wes Strik was very close to being on the podium during his first home match! The Millenaar managed to ride a great race, but a fall in the last lap threw a spanner in the works. The victory went to Liam Gaasbeek, the 11-year-old Yamaha rider wins both heats ahead of Jessey van Veen and Marselina Mertens (5-3) takes the final podium spot ahead of Strik (3-5). The best 65cc Small Wheels is Jann Huisman, he is the strongest both times.

Strik has been living in Mill for a few months now, so this was his first home game. The KTM rider boldly takes the best start and takes the lead during the first moto. Van Veen follows, just like Jann Huisman, with the YZ65 Kleine Wielen. Not a good start for Gaasbeek, who started the match narrowly in the top ten. However, the rider from Zeist works his way forward in a very controlled manner and in the third lap he takes over the lead. Strik does not give in easily and that is not possible because Van Veen insists. It is a beautiful battle that is decided in Van Veen's favor three laps before the checkered flag. Behind Gaasbeek and Van Veen, Strik crosses the finish line in a nice third place. Huisman crosses the finish line in third place ahead of Mertens.
2e some
Strik also has the best start in the second round. The 10-year-old rider is now being chased by Van Veen and Mertens follows. The lady loses a spot to Gaasbeek in the second round and not later Van Veen takes over the lead. However, he wants a little too much, which causes him to fall. Gaasbeek overtakes Strik and manages to take the lead. Strik pulls out all the stops and seems to be in second place, but Mertens and Van Veen come dangerously close in the last lap. In his drive, the Strik MX Racing rider made a mistake that caused him to fall hard. He continues under his own steam but loses three places. Van Veen manages to catch up with Mertens in the last lap. Gaasbeek also wins the second round ahead of Van Veen and Mertens. Because Strik crosses the finish line in fifth place behind Joppe Verschoor, he misses out on his first podium spot. In the event of an equal score, the second heat will determine the day's result.
