Important series victory Jago Geerts!
Monster Energy Yamaha rider Jago Geerts dominated the first MX2 series of the Czech GP. Geerts led from start to finish in Loket. A strong Kevin Horgmo finished second, just 2,2 seconds behind Geerts. Kay De Wolf came third.
Jago Geerts provided an ideal starting position thanks to his sixth holeshot of the season. Kevin Horgmo and Sacha Coenen shot away in the Kempen's wheel. Honda duo Emil Weckman and Camden McLellan also started well!
Both Liam Everts and Andrea Adamo ran into problems in the initial phase. It took a very long time before 'Liamski' could leave again after a crash on the wave section after the start. Despite his bad start, Everts' Red Bull KTM teammate Adamo came back quickly. He rose from 24th to P11. Due to a collision with Rick Elzinga, the World Championship leader fell again and had to chase for the second time! Adamo reassembled again. By overtaking under a yellow flag, he would only be classified 13th
The battle for third place between Kay De Wolf and Simon Längenfelder raged fiercely. That put pressure on De Wolf and the Husqvarna factory rider drove towards Sacha Coenen. It earned Kay third place. Although Sacha Coenen (photo below) had to settle for fifth place, a fantastic result for the 16-year-old top talent. Twin brother Lucas could not really make a fist on the Czech track where overtaking is traditionally difficult. In the final phase, Coenen gained momentum, but he would only finish 8th. The first heat was also one to quickly forget for Liam Everts. Everts would only end up 17th.
Horgmo increased the pressure on leader Geerts in the final laps, but he kept his cool. In the World Championship standings, 'The Jag' is now within 35 points of Adamo, De Wolf is second on 28 points. The decisive second MX2 series starts at 16:10 PM!
