MX2 Lommel: Jago Geerts beats Lucas Coenen in the first series
The first series of MX2 has just been held in Lommel. After yesterday's pole, it was now Jago Geerts who took the lead. He won the first series of MX2 ahead of a very strong driving Lucas Coenen and Simon Laengenfelder.
The holeshot went to Jago Geerts who held off Lucas Coenen and Andrea Adamo in the sprint to the first corner. Kay de Wolf crashed on the first lap and had to restart from the back. Liam Everts missed his start and was 17thde the first series starts. Thibault Benistant did not start although he did try during the warm-up morning.
Lucas Coenen then continued to follow the pace of leader Geerts for laps and had to wait for an attack. Laengenfelder was in third place at the time, just ahead of Andrea Adamo. In lap 10 we saw Kay de Wolf enter the pits for an unknown reason and disappear from the race.
After half the match, Geerts increased the pace somewhat, causing 16-year-old Lucas Coenen to systematically give up some meters. Liam Everts had a great catch-up race because he was able to move from 17de instead advance to P5.
Jago Geerts won this first series after he also won the qualifying series yesterday. Lucas Coenen finished second, 7 seconds ahead of the German Simon Laengenfelder. Rick Elzinga managed to score ninth place ahead of Sacha Coenen who finished tenth.
The second series of MX16 will follow later at 10:2 PM.
