Liam Everts, Andrea Adamo and Sacha Coenen about their race in Lommel
The KTM boys put their best foot forward this weekend in the loose sand of Lommel. Liam Everts just missed the podium with a fourth place in the final standings. Andrea Adamo finished 7th and Sacha Coenen finished tenth in heat one and had to retire in the second heat after a crash. Here's what the trio had to say after the match.
Liam Evert: “Overall a difficult weekend as I struggled a bit with the track and lacked some fire and push. In the first moto I was stuck at the start because someone crashed in front of me. I came back to 5th place and that was a good moto. In the second race I had a fast start and stayed around 4th place for the entire race. The gap to Simon Laengenfelder went up and down a bit. I liked the layout. It's always nice to have something new and we practice a lot here during preseason. It was cool to do it differently. Anyway, we moved up to fourth in the championship and did well overall. I'm looking forward to Vantaa, it's a nice circuit and I think I won there with the 85cc!”
Andrea Adamo: “The weekend was pretty good until the second heat! I had two P4s and good points but I wanted to use all my energy to follow Jago in the second heat and then things don't always go as planned! During the transition between the bumps the front wheel broke away and I fell. I was really lucky because I felt another wheel close to my hand. It was very close. I got up and tried to give it my all and I was close to the top ten, but I fell again. From that moment on I counted the minutes. It was very tough for me, but there were more positives than negatives this weekend. I have become much better in sand than in previous years. I can see and feel that I am fast, but I know that I am not as consistent as on hard pack. I will fight as hard as I can in the next races and then we'll see what happens.”
Sacha Coenen: “I had fun on Saturday and made a good start in the qualifying heat but then I fell and got hit and it hurt my legs. However, I was still able to come back to 12th place. It was a wet start on Sunday and a tip-over in the first moto made it a bit difficult to get back. 10th place was good considering the pain I was in. Another crash at the start of the second moto was a disaster as another rider hit me again! Wow, it was tough. I tried as hard as I could but another big crash ended my day as I was sore all over. It was a little too risky. The trail was really technical and very rough. We will do better in Finland.”
