Jenitty van der Beek wins in Stevensbeek
Last Sunday, a new round of the battle for the title in the women's class was scheduled on the radio circuit in Stevensbeek. For the second time this season, Jenitty van der Beek was able to take a seat on the highest step of the podium. In both heats, van der Beek managed to decide the battle with Britt van der Werff in her favor and she won the heat. With two second places in the heats and therefore second place in the daily rankings, Van der Werff did excellent business in the championship. With this she consolidated her leading position in the standings. Far behind, Gwenda Haans was the “best of the rest”. With two third place finishes, she was also able to take her place on the podium of honor. Kaylee van Dam finished fourth with two fourth place finishes in the heats and Lynn Kelders completed the top five with two fifth place finishes in the heats.
First heat
It was Van der Werff who came through the first round on top ahead of Van der Beek, Haans, Van Dam and Kelders. For number two in the championship standings Amber Simons, the day was already over in the first corner. She fell. Was then hit by a car and was taken to hospital. Fortunately, the consequences were not too bad in the end and she was present again along the track during the day. Van der Werff and Van der Beek quickly walked away from the rest. In the third lap van der Beek managed to take over the lead. Van der Werff took the lead for a few more laps, but in the final phase of the heat Van der Beek ran away and took the heat. Far behind, it was Haans, Van Dam and Kelders who battled for the remaining places in the top five. Halfway through the heat it was Van Dam who briefly managed to take over third place, but in the following lap it was Haans again who came through in third place and managed to end the heat in this position. Kelders stayed close behind Haans and Van Dam throughout the heat. However, when the checkered flag fell, she was half a second short and finished in fifth place.
Second heat
Van der Werff again had the best start. Now Van der Beek did not wait three laps. In the first round she took the lead. Halfway through the heat, Van der Beek had a small lead, but Van der Werff managed to fight back. However, when Van der Beek passed veteran Marco Langenbach, the decision was also made. This gave Van der Beek the space she needed and she again won the heat ahead of Van der Werff. Well behind, Haans, Van Dam and Kelders were once again fighting for third place. From round one, the ladies advanced in that order. Halfway through the heat it was Kelders who was the first to leave a small gap. Van Dam stayed close behind Haans for a long time, but eventually she had to acknowledge her superiority in Haans again. Kelders followed at nine seconds in fifth place.
