Dani Koot the strongest in Stevensbeek
Last Saturday there was a new competition on the program for the MX2 youth in Stevensbeek in Brabant. The match went perfectly for Dani Koot. In both heats he put constant pressure on Alex van Weerdenburg and this ultimately gave him two heat victories and the accompanying victory of the day. This also makes Koot the main challenger in the battle for the championship in this class. Van Weerdenburg was left with a third and second place on the middle step on the podium. Based on the second heat, he kept the Belgian Troy Dendooven behind him. German guest rider Philipp Garcke achieved fourth and fifth place in the heats and finished fourth in the overall standings. Roan van Vegchel completed the top five with a fifth and seventh place in the heats.
First heat
Van Weerdenburg was the fastest at the start. He was followed at the first passage by van Vegchel, Koot, Dendooven and Stein Kanters. In the second round it was Van Vegchel who had to pass both Koot and Dendooven. Garcke moved up to fifth place at the expense of Kanters and also passed van Vegchel in the next lap. Van Weerdenburg, Koot and Dendooven battled for the lead for laps without any position changes. Garcke was caught behind. Garcke in turn drove away from the rest of the field. Van Vegchel, Jesse Daal, Vigo Dral competed behind it. Dani Puts, Kanters and Boyd Eilers for fifth place. The battle for heat victory was decided four laps before the checkered flag fell. Van Weerdenburg crashed and fell well behind in third place, with Garcke close behind him. Koot rode away from Dendooven and took the heat victory. Second place went to Dendooven. Van Weerdenburg just managed to keep Garcke behind him and the battle for fifth place was won by van Vegchel.
Second heat
It was again Van Weerdenburg with the best start. He now immediately got Koot on his rear wheel. Both quickly took a lead over Kanters and Garcke and van Veghel followed within a few seconds. In the third lap it was Dendooven who, from seventh place, passed van Vegchel to finish fifth. A gap quickly opened up with sixth place, making the top five. Halfway through the heat, Garcke and Kanters were also passed by Dendooven, but Van Weerdenburg and Koot had already built up a nice lead. Koot once again managed to keep constant pressure on van Weerdenburg. Van Weerdenburg succumbed in the penultimate lap and it was Koot who again took the heat victory. Third place went to Dendooven, who finally managed to reach the podium again. Kanters followed in fourth with Garcke at his rear wheel.
