10 reasons why you really need to go to the MXGP in Lommel
On July 22 and 23, the best motocross riders in the world will be at the start for the MXGP of Flanders. This year you have many more reasons to visit this competition, which we list in a list. You can order tickets at greatly reduced prices via: https://mxgpflanders.com/tickets
- The Coenen brothers: Suddenly Belgium has talented motocross riders again and the twin brothers Lucas and Sacha Coenen are two of them. Lucas won his first Grand Prix in Indonesia and Sacha is getting better and better on his Red Bull KTM Factory machine.
- Jago Geerts: Despite having to miss a few races due to an injury, “The Jag” is still in the running for the MX2 world title. He will be in top form again in Lommel and then Jago will be virtually unbeatable.
- Liam Evert: Speaking of Belgian talents... Liam Everts is now on the podium every weekend and recently won his first Grand Prix. The succession of grandpa Harry and dad Stefan is a certainty with this racing driver.
- The circuit: Lommel is certainly the toughest of them all on the MXGP calendar. After a few heats, the course looks “brutal” and the riders have to dig deep into their reserves to score. Nowhere else in the world can you go as “deep” as in the sand of Lommel.
- The lay-out: The circuit will be completely transformed for the race in July. There is a new place for the start with better visibility for the public, completely new loops and therefore exceptionally difficult!
- The Pre sale tickets: If you buy tickets in advance, you will immediately receive a significant discount compared to the price at the box office.
- The Liamski Fanzone: Last year there was a Liamski fan zone for the first time during the GP of Flanders. That was a great success and so it will be there again this year. Liam Everts fans all gather at this location to support the youngest member of the Everts dynasty.
- The Dutch in the MXGP: There are a few real Dutch speed riders in the MXGP series. How about Glenn Coldenhoff and Calvin Vlaanderen who are both in the top ten of the world championship.
- Kay de Wolf: The Negaan Husqvarna Factory MX2 rider is currently in contention for the world title. He is third in the standings and can perform well in the sand of Lommel. That will be delicious for our northern neighbors.
- EMX Open and EMX125: In addition to the two regular series MXGP and MX2, the riders of the EMX Open and EMX125 categories will also be at the starting gate. You can also expect a large pack of young wolves there, such as Ian Ampoorter, Douwe Vanmechgelen, Gyan Doensen and Nicolas Vennekens.
