Jett Lawrence takes the title in Denver
The eighth round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship 250SX West Coast was won by RJ Hampshire. The Husqvarna rider won the final in Denver ahead of Levi Kitchen and Jett Lawrence. The Australian is assured of the title, he had to finish in the top ten to decide the title battle early.
In the final, Max Vohland makes the best start for Kitchen while Lawrence starts the final over 15 minutes and a lap in midfield. After two laps Kitchen takes the lead but Hampshire follows like a shadow. Yet the Yamaha rider managed to keep the lead for no less than 16 laps. The Husqvarna rider's first attack almost goes wrong and Hampshire narrowly avoids a crash. With two laps to go, the 27-year-old rider takes the lead to take his first win of the season! Kitchen comes second ahead of Lawrence, who very neatly and without many problems worked his way from outside the top ten to third place. This also means that the West Coast title goes to Honda and Australia! Enzo Lopes takes fourth place ahead of Mitchell Oldenburg.
The grand finale is next week in Salt Lake City.
