Duncan wins, Valk the best Dutch in Spain
In Arroyomolinos, just outside Madrid, Courtney Duncan won the first round of the third race of the FIM WMX World Championship. The Kawasaki rider won ahead of Kiara Fontanesi and Daniela Guillen. Lynn Valk took fourth place, making her the best Dutch woman. Lotte van Drunen lost the lead in the standings, the Sliedrecht native did not get further than seventh place.
Nancy van de Ven took the best start but crashed and did not get further than twelfth place. Jennitty van der Beek took the last World Cup point by crossing the finish line in twentieth place. Danee Gelissen came 24th followed by Stephanie Stoutjesdijk and Britt Jans-Beken did not finish. Shana van der Vlist had a hard fall at the start and was hit by a car. De was able to continue under his own power but left the match.
