Dean Gregoire wins a round in Oldebroek
Dean Gregoire won the first round during the final of the KNMV Dutch Masters of Motocross 85cc. The 12-year-old crosser came to the beautiful 'Circuit De Bargen' in fifth place in the standings with a chance of a medal spot. The first round was won after a nice battle with Dani Heitink. The rider from Geldrop was in the lead in the second heat when he had to leave the race due to engine trouble. Heitink won the final and also secured the title.
First heat:
In the timed training, Dean managed to record a sixth fastest time, but he calmly explored the circuit and was confident for both races. The start of the first heat is very good and the Alpinestars-clad crosser takes the best start. However, in the first corner he goes a bit wide, allowing Heitink to slip inside and take over the lead. As if on a string, both gentlemen move around the circuit while third man Kooiker watches from an appropriate distance. After almost 15 minutes of the match, Dean manages to launch an attack and it succeeds immediately. The KTM rider takes the lead and with a small but safe lead, the first moto is won for Heitink and Kooiker.
Second heat:
With the victory in the first heat, Dean climbs to third place in the standings, thirteen points behind the leader. Bervoets is now fourth, just two points behind Dean. The start of the second heat is also good and behind Heitink, Dean flies over the large table mountain in second place. Not much later, the Brabander takes over the lead and the duo manages to find each other again. Then the VOSS Motoren rider seems to be able to distance himself a little, but unfortunately that does not last long. In the fourth laps bad luck strikes and the leader has to leave the race early. As a result, he does not finish third in the final standings, but fourth.
Next time:
The KNMV Dutch Masters of Motocross is now over. The last race of the EMX3 Central Europe will be held on June 4-85 at the Velke Uherce circuit in Slovakia.
