The Wolf gives the DMoMX title extra shine
With two moto victories, Kay de Wolf has won the title of the KNMV Dutch Masters of Motocross 250cc. The Husqvarna rider managed to take victory at the Oldebroek circuit ahead of teammate Roan van de Moosdijk and Ivano van Erp. It is the fourth DMoMX title for the rider from Eersel who won the 85cc title twice and the 125cc title once. For Husqvarna it is the third time that this title has been won after Romain Febvre (2014) and Thomas Kjer Olsen (2017).

Due to the absence of the injured Rick Elzinga, the battle for the title will be between De Wolf and Van de Moosdijk. The 18-year-old rider has a 20-point lead over his 23-year-old colleague. Van Erp trained the fastest and he also takes the best start ahead of teammate Karlis Reisulis and F&H Racing driver Kevin Horgmo. De Wolf has a good start but goes off track in the sprint to the first corner. The Red Bull driver manages to recover quickly and comes third on the first lap after passing Horgmo. Van Erp is allowed to set the pace, but in the third lap De Wolf passes and he subsequently wins the first round. During the first half of the race it looks like Van de Moosdijk will finish third, but after 15 minutes of the race the Eindhove native passes Van Erp very nicely. Thanks to that second place, Van de Moosdijk manages to postpone the party for a while. It takes effort because Horgmo is doing everything he can to take over second place. However, that doesn't work and the Norwegian finishes third ahead of EMX250 leader Andrea Bonacorsi. In the final phase of the race, Van Erp has a hard time and loses two more places in the last two laps. After Bonacorsi, Karssemakers manages to take fifth place three corners before the checkered flag, ahead of 18-year-old Van Erp.
2e some
Hutten Metaal Yamaha riders Van Erp and Reisulis also start the race best in the second round. De Wolf starts third to further increase the pressure on the teenagers in front of him. In the second lap, Reisulis has to allow the leader in the standings to pass and exactly one lap later, De Wolf is the new leader. He slips past both Yamaha riders in the same corner, but less than 100 meters further, De Wolf crashes to the ground. Just ahead of Andrea Bonacorsi, De Wolf manages to get back on his motorcycle to continue the race. For a moment, Van Erp can dream of victory, but De Wolf 'normally' comes back. With more than 10 minutes to go he takes the lead and with a nice 'wheely' he crosses the finish line as the winner. Van Erp comes second, well ahead of Van de Moosdijk. Reisulis is good for fourth place ahead of Karssemakers, who also completes the top five in this round.
Next time:
The KNMV Dutch Masters of Motocross is over for 2023 and it has been a very successful competition. There are only three competitions, but both the field of participants and the organization are of a high level. The competitions for next season will also be organized by the clubs in Harfsen, Markelo and Oldebroek.
