Belgian victory in the BeNeDu cup in Horst
Last Saturday the first match in the battle for the BeNeDu cup was scheduled in Horst. In the 125cc youth class it was the Belgian C-Jay Vanderels who was the strongest. Vanderelst managed to win both heats from Mcc de Streekrijders on the Reulsberg circuit. Second place was with a third and second place in the heats for the Dutchman Alex van Weerdenburg. Amani Saraç (Ned) took a sixth and second place on the lowest step of the podium. Jaymian Ramakers (Ned) and Dani Koot (Ned) completed the top five. The best German was Henry Hauswirth with seventh place in the daily rankings.
First heat:
It was the Germans Benedikt Romankiewitz and Arne Berscheid who were in the first two places at the first passage. They were followed by Saraç, the Belgian Joshua Desmet and van Weerdenburg. Desmet quickly worked his way up to third place, but had to relinquish this position to Saraç one lap later. This was followed by a nice battle that broke out halfway through the heat. It was first Jaymian Ramakers who reported in fifth place. Desmet also saw van Weerdenburg pass him by and was now outside the top five. Ramakers had a good taste of it and moved on to the second plate. Berscheid lost three places in one lap as Van Weerdenburg and Saraç also passed him. Van Weerdenburg was now third ahead of Saraç. In the next round Ramakers took over the lead. Saraç again passed Van Weerdenburg and it was also Vanderelst who passed van Weerdenburg. Vanderelst now really got the hang of it and was quickly in second place and started chasing Ramakers. Saraç fell back and it was now Dani Koot who reported fifth. Romankiewutz was also unable to maintain the pace at the front and quickly fell back. Van Weerdenburg, Koot and Troy Dendooven also passed him by. In the last round Ramakers had to admit his superiority in Vanderelst. The heat victory went to Vanderelst ahead of Ramakers, Van Weerdenburg, Koot and Dendooven.
Second heat:
It was now Vanderelst who took the lead at the first passage ahead of Van Weerdenburg, Saraç, Koot and Berscheid. Van der Elst quickly took a lead and behind him Van Weerdenburg, Saraç and Koot fought for second place. Halfway through the heat the decision was made in this battle. Saraç passed van Weerdenburg and took over second place. Koot lost a few seconds at that moment. However, he had enough lead over Berscheid and was able to hold on to fourth place. Two laps later, Berscheid had to leave his fifth place to fellow countryman Henry Hauswirth. This took the front position. Vanderelst took the heat victory ahead of Saraç, Van Weerdenburg and Koot. Behind them, Hauswirth barely managed to hold on to fifth place ahead of an oncoming Ramakers who came very close after a bad start to the heat.
