AMA Pro Motocross will now start on grids
This weekend the American outdoor championship starts at the Fox Raceway circuit in Pala, California. Promoter MX Sports will be setting starting rosters just like in the MXGP and there is a reason for that.
The big boss at MX Sports has admitted that the switch to metal grilles was made to help Team USA continue to win the MXoN! He provided text and explanation during the press conference of the 2023 Pro Motocross series.
Davey Coombs: “That was a big step (metal grilles) that we took in consultation with the teams and the OEMs. Together with Roger De Coster, I want team USA to win the MXoN. One of the ways to ensure that is to be consistent with our starting grid as we have in Supercross, in the MXGP and the SMX World Championship. It's a small change, but I hope it's an important one and that we can keep the ball rolling, just like we did last year at Red Bud when Team USA won after a very long winless period.”
