Jan Vlaeymans makes up points in Rhenen
During the third race of the KNMV Open Dutch Quad Championship, Jan Vlaeymans made up some points on Joe Maessen. The Belgian managed to take the day's victory at the Rhenen circuit with a second and first place. Rick Haverdil (1-3) and Maessen (3-2) were allowed to climb onto the podium. Maessen still has a 13 point lead over Vlaeymans in the standings.
1e some
Maessen is the fastest man in training and he also makes the best start in the first heat. The Limburger is followed by Haverdil while Gijs Wentink makes a mistake and disappears from the match. Haverdil takes the lead on the first lap ahead of Mike Ver Boven, Vlaeymans and Maessen. After more than five minutes of the match, Ver Boven sees both Vlaeymans and Maessen pass. Both seek to connect with the leader, but he is not easily taken by surprise. The victory goes to Haverdil ahead of Vlaeymans and Maessen. Ver Boven is good for fourth place ahead of Valentino Roks. Ricardo Phoelich, who was second in the standings, had to settle for seventh place.
2e some
Maessen also gets the best start ahead of Haverdil in the second heat. Maessen comes out of the first round as leader ahead of Ver Boven and Vlaeymans. In the second lap Ver Boven takes over the lead, but Vlaeymans takes over this position one lap later. The Belgian then distances himself and builds up an eleven-second lead! Maessen briefly dropped back to fourth place, but he recovered with less than ten minutes on the clock. Maessen passes Haverdil, but Vlaeymans is the fastest man on the circuit and continues to expand his lead. Maessen is now good for second place ahead of Haverdil. Ruttenberg is good for a nice fourth place and Sem Ende completes the top five.
Next time:
The championship will not resume until September 3, when racing will take place on the circuit, but the race still does not have the final permit!
