Thibault Benistant takes the Swiss pole
After two qualifying victories earlier this season for Jago Geerts, it is now Thibault Benistant's turn. The Frenchman takes pole position for the Swiss Grand Prix ahead of Kay de Wolf and Geerts. Roan van de Moosdijk is good for fourth place, followed by Andrea Adamo and Liam Everts!
In the qualifying race over 20 minutes and two laps, Jan Pancar takes the best start ahead of Benistant and Van de Moosdijk looks for the outside bend and thus finds the speed to pass Benistant. Lucas Coenen has now recovered because he crashes in the first corner with Lorenzo Ciabatti. De Wolf follows in fourth place ahead of World Cup leader Geerts. The 20-year-old Benistant manages to pass Van de Moosdijk in the first lap and not much later Pancar has to make way for the Frenchman. The Slovenian is under pressure because he is put under heavy pressure, but he does not give in easily. De Wolf has now crashed and Mikkel Haarup has therefore entered the top five. The Dane has switched to KTM and will complete the season for the German WZ Racing. Van de Moosdijk is the first to pass Pancar and not much later Geerts also follows. The Belgian takes second place and then makes a slide after 15 minutes, throwing a spanner in the works. De Wolf has now returned and is in second place. Geerts tries to pass the crosser from Eersel in the final phase, but he manages to prevent this. Van de Moosdijk is fourth, chased by Adamo and his teammate Everts. Rick Elzinga manages to score two points again, he crosses the finish line in ninth place, followed by F&H Racing driver David Braceras.
Raf Meuwissen crosses the finish line in 22nd place while Coenen leaves the race after a second crash.
On Easter Monday (Monday, April 10) at 13:15 PM and 16:10 PM, both heats will be held on the Frauenfeld circuit. The images can be viewed LIVE via MXGP-TV, the DiscoveryPlus App, Eurosport 2 and the Belgian Playsports!
