Hunter Lawrence also wins in Atlanta
Hunter Lawrence won round seven of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship 250SX East Coast at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The Honda rider won the final ahead of Jordon Smith followed by his teammate Haiden Deegan. Because Nate Trasher has to be satisfied with two points, Deegan climbs to second place in the standings, 45 points behind leader Lawrence!
In the final, Deegan gets the best start ahead of Lawrence, Smith and Tyler Hawkins. The Honda rider immediately goes on the attack and the leader in the standings quickly takes over the lead in this final. Tom Vialle crashes in the opening phase and the Frenchman disappears from the race. In the first round, leader Lawrence makes a mistake, but miraculously he does not fall. Deegan briefly takes the lead, but two laps later it is Lawrence again in the lead. The Australian then distances himself from his pursuers, who all race for Star Racing-Yamaha. After six minutes, Smith manages to take over second place from Deegan, who later comes under pressure from Trasher. However, with two minutes to go, Trasher makes a mistake and crashes hard. Deegan then has no problems and he comes third. Jo Shimoda makes a nice comeback, the Kawasaki rider finishes fourth ahead of Max Anstie.
The Lawrence brothers will meet next week at the East-West Shoot-Out in East Rutherford.
