The Yamaha MX2 team about their race in Switzerland
The Monster Energy Yamaha MX2 team won the race in Frauenfeld yesterday with Thibault Benistant. Jago Geerts had to deal with a big crash and Rick Elzinga had a mediocre weekend. This is what the three had to say after the match.
Thibault Benistant: “Winning the GP is so good. I came close a few times last year, but it only happened once, so today I finally did it. It's a little confidence boost to get this win. I'm really happy that all the hard work is paying off. I've been on the podium every round this season, so I'm happy with my consistency. I think this is the key.”
Jago Geerts: “Today started really well. I took the holeshot and basically led the entire race until I had a big crash. It was strange. I took the same line I took all race but got kicked over the handlebars. The bike was pretty battered after that crash, with the handlebars completely bent. I still finished seventh. In the second round I didn't feel so good. I was still in pain, but was still able to finish third after another small crash. It wasn't the best weekend, but I was still able to save some good points, so it was good.”
Rick Elzinga: “This wasn't the best weekend. I'm still struggling with the comeback after being sick a few weeks ago. I didn't feel good on the bike during practice last week and this weekend was the same. That was noticeable. I had two good starts today, but in the first race I had arm pump and in the second race I just rode poorly. I have a few things to work on, which I will do this week and I hope to be better in Arco.”
